Why did you enroll in the graduate school of education at Okayama University ?

I had the opportunity to study at Okayama University for a month thanks to a JICA training course, during that time I was able to learn a little about the university, the professors and the master's program offered by the faculty of education. It was a very enriching experience to my professional development, but due to the short time there were many questions left unanswered, there was a lot I wanted to know, so I decided to prepare myself to go back and enroll in the master's course.

How was your time in the graduate school of education?

Every day I learned something new, it was challenging but very fulfilling. I had the opportunity to meet many people from different countries and different majors with different backgrounds, which enhanced my vision. The culture and language are completely different, so there were some hard times, but thanks to the support of my professors and classmates I was able to get through it. I was able to take a variety of courses in different areas, this flexibility in the curriculum is something I had never experienced before and it helped me to achieve a holistic and deep education.

Is what you learned in graduate school of education useful for your current job?

I am in charge of mathematics teaching courses at a public university in my country. So I have the opportunity to share with my students everything I learned about the Japanese teaching style as well as the atmosphere in Japanese schools. Having studied at Okayama University allowed me to have direct contact with elementary and junior high school mathematics teachers, observe mathematics lessons and reflect on my own teaching style. All the valuable experiences What I learned made me grow as a person and as a teacher, and all this acquired knowledge will help to improve the quality of the training of future teachers in my country.
