先日お伝えしたESDのWhole School Approach「学校包括型アプローチ」の国際会議報告書に掲載された矢掛高校の事例が、更にアメリカの大手科学雑誌「American Scientist」誌にも紹介されました。

Arjen Wals氏が主となって進めている研究ですが、ESD協働推進センター助教の柴川が執筆協力、矢掛高校（当時）の高木潤先生と、地域コーディネーターの奥村さんには写真提供などの協力を頂きました。

特に矢掛高校のメイン事業でもある「矢掛学」について、地域一丸となって、地域を舞台にして、地域に学びながら展開する包括的なサービス・ラーニングが評価されているようです。
今後もESD協働推進センターでは、このような岡山地域における地域ー学校包括型のESDのアプローチについて研究と実践を進めていきたいと思います。
更に国際的共同を促す上でも事例の発信は重要と考え、力を入れていきます。

The case study of Yakage Senior High School, which was published in the international conference report on ‘Whole School Approaches (WSA) to Sustainability’, which we reported on recently, was further featured in the leading US science magazine American Scientist.

Dr. Arjen Wals and Ms.Rosalie Mathie are the main authors of the study, and Assistant Professor Shibakawa of the ESD Collaboration Promotion Centre helped to edit the article, while Jun Takagi, (teacher at Yakage SHS), and Ms Mie Okumura, Regional Coordinator, provided photographs and other support.

In particular, the main project of the school, “Yakage Gaku”: comprehensive service-learning practices developed by the local community as a whole, using the community as a learning stage, and co-learning with the community, is highly evaluated and introduced in the article.

We will continue to research and practice such whole community&school approaches of ESD in the Okayama region.
Furthermore, we will continue to focus on the dissemination of case studies, as we believe this is important for promoting international collaboration.
